A particle effect appears when you get an Easter Egg, and when you shoot a chain, you freeze so aiming is easier. Originally, I also wanted to have a bit of "recoil", so when you shoot, you move slightly in the direction of the chain, but this would make many sections "cheese-able". For exmaple in the Hat gauntlet, where you're taught about double-clicking a hook to reverse direction, you could just throw chains in the direction of the exit until you got there. Nope.
